Bentley EXP 9 F SUV might come as a hybrid

Bentley is considering a hybrid version of the EXP 9 F SUV, besides the large W12 and the V8 unit.

With the parent company Volkswagen working on the next generation of plug-in hybrid powertrains which will be adopted onto its larger models, the production version of the Bentley EXP 9 F SUV has a big change of getting such a power train. Besides the Bentley SUV, the Porsche Cayenne is also expected to get the new hybrid powertrain, but there is no official word from the automaker just yet.

The Bentley EXP 9 F SUV concept has been officially presented to the public last month, at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, and the model’s design has been inspired by the Blower Bentleys from the late 1920s. The Bentley SUV is actually a fusion of crafted luxury and advanced in-car technology, which is expected to come, in its final production version, with a 6.0 liter W12 engine, which will put down a total output of 600 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque (590 lb-ft). Besides the massive unit, a smaller 4.0 liter V8 is also in the books, but the most important powertrain to be adopted by the luxurious crossover is the V6 plug-in hybrid, which will allow the model to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds.
